Description

Okay, so this is a little different from what I've been working on for the past several months, as I've been focusing on mainly desktop customization. Well, I've also been working on several volunteer projects on the side for an organization called the Arthritis Foundation, so that I can start building my portfolio.

So far, I've created a flier and a symposium pamphlet for the Arthritis Foundation here in San Diego, and there will be many more to come! I'll likely upload these to DA as well, so I can see my progress as I go along.

Anyway, so right here is the beginnings of a website for a camp here in Southern California called "Joint Adventures Camp." JA Camp is where children diagnosed with various types of arthritis can come and be around other kids with similar conditions over the course of the week. Much like "asthma camp," but with kids that have arthritis. I, too, attended this camp from ages 9-17, and then became a volunteer camp counselor at 18. Activities at said camp include: boating, fishing, sports, swimming, a dodgeball-like game called Gaga, carnivals, hiking, motor scooting, and much more.

This camp is really dear to my heart, and so I take pleasure in helping the Arthritis Foundation out in any way I can. So in addition to volunteering my time during the summer to supervise the kids, I lend my artistic skills as a graphic designer. It's wonderful, because I'm gaining real-world experience, complete with deadlines, and having to work with a team. I hope that this will flourish into a paid position at some point, with the Arthritis Foundation or otherwise.

Anyway... With all that being said, I'm a bit behind on my web design. I am by no means elite, so I'm calling on you experts out there to give me your professional opinion on my work thus far, and I would appreciate ANY suggestions you have on how I cam make this better and more professional looking. I like the layout, but it's the attention to detail that I lack at this point, I feel. I'm also going to be coding this from scratch for Wordpress, too. So I have quite the journey ahead of me.

Anyway, if you got through all of this, thanks for reading! I really appreciate it.

Update:

Working on a better version as I write this. The next day everything always looks so shitty, haha. And since posting this, I've received a lot of great advice from different people! so this is officially a rough draft.

Another version will be uploaded later. :D
