UPDATES & FIXES (2.11.2012)

*THE PREVIEW DOES NOT YET REFLECT THE CHANGES MADE.

:bulletblack: Upon request, added an additional .msstyle with LARGER font. You're welcome, guys!
:bulletblack: FIXED the Firefox menu bug! No longer super wide menu.
:bulletblack: FIXED explorer frames!
:bulletblack: CHANGED the caption buttons. If you don't like them, sorry. I'm probably going to keep them like this for now. May provide an additional version later.
:bulletblack: CHANGED taskbar height and improved taskitem buttons.
:bulletblack: IMPROVED start menu to reflect dark theme.
:bulletblack: FIXED application menu bug (as in WSB)- menu bg now reflects the rest of the theme.

STILL NO WORD ON SYSTEM TRAY BUG. I'm still searching for a solution.

END UPDATES

_________________________________________

INTRODUCTION

This is the alternative version to my "Shiroi" theme that I've called "Kuroi," for obvious reasons... Originally, I was going to keep them together, but I think I'm going to do various "Shiroi" spinoffs for now, and then when I'm done, I'll upload them all together in a convenient new zip! It's my plan to add additional colors of the rainbow so that "Shiroi Oneechan" and "Kuroi Imoutochan" can have a big happy family.

INSTALLATION

1. Use uxthemepatcher x86 or x64 (depending on your system) to patch the files necessary to use 3rd party themes (themes not made by Microsoft). Pretty self-explanatory. Restart.

2. Extract the contents of Shiroi's "theme" folder to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes.

3. Turn off the ugly blur behind the windows by using "Aeroblurtweaker." If it gives you an error message stating that you don't have permission, then you need to "Take Ownership" of the specified file. You can do this by using the other tool provided and install "TakeOwnership.reg." Once that's complete, right click the file that you need to gain access to, and select "Take Ownership."

4. Right click on your desktop to open the "Personalization" options, and select "Shiroi" from the menu. That's it!

CURRENT BUGS INCLUDE....

:bulletblue: rouge lists in Firefox
:bulletblue: a little work on the explorer frame borders
:bulletblue: some weird bug where if you move the taskbar, the system tray goes haywire. D:
:bulletblue: Inactive addressbar in explorer has weird line on the far right; searchbox text when entered is too dark.
:bulletblue: And lastly, I need to find the location of some fonts, or add the font property to various locations like the task manager, and properties window for the start menu.

By the way... If you comment noting a bug that is already listed here, then will be obvious to me that you did NOT read the description, and I will not respond to you. I repeat. I am WORKING on these. I'm sorry, I don't like being too redundant.

Also worth mentioning...

THIS IS AN AERO THEME. This does NOT support Basic. Not yet, at least. Also, this does not support right or left taskbars. I overlooked this while making the theme, but will be adding this in my first update.

**********************************************

Any questions or suggestions? Feel free to let me know! :pencil: Anything you like in particular, or something you would like to see changed? Feel free to let me know! I may provide additional .msstyles in future updates for this theme, so feedback is encouraged!

This theme is amazing! But I have one question. When I select things in folders, the highlight is on top of the text. So I can no longer read it. How could I fix that? Thanks!

Oh wow, I didn't know that! I'm actually working on an entire overhaul of Kuroi and Shiroi, which is currently in the works. I think you'll like it! And as for the bug, it's an issue with the theme. It'll be fixed in the next release. ;)

Really nice theme, but I have a few problems with it. The taskbar doesn't flash when I receive Skype messages (this happens with other messenger programs too). Also progress bars (usually used to display a downloading file's progress) are no longer displayed in the taskbar either. Is it possible to regain these useful features for this theme?

I'm planning on revisiting this theme and improving it, so I'm glad that you brought that to my attention. I'll definitely add those features when I revise the theme. Thank you!

That would be wonderful! There's also one other thing that was lost but not really missed like the ones I've stated in my previous post. With the default Windows 7 theme, you could hover over the "Show Desktop" button on the task bar (far right) and the actual desktop will bleed through the active windows. Also, would it be possible to regain the windows profile picture displayed in the Start Menu? It's not really needed though. Maybe make it an option to have or not? Happy themeing!

You mean the details pane? In order to do that, you go to "Organize > Layout > Details" and uncheck it. Let me know if you have any other questions!

There is none. I used Gnome Colors Patcher (located in the description) to patch my files. It's really nifty- give it a try! If you're not satisfied with that, just use another explorerframe from one of your favorite themes. Happy theming!

okay, i have problem here. I hope you don't mind if i ask. I recently updated my win 7 to sp 1. But the theme doesn't show properly. The taskbar, caption buttons, text fields, and start menu change. But, the window borders/frames show the regular aero theme. I have re-patched uxtheme. Any idea how to fix this?
My system is win 7 ultimate x64

My guess is that you didn't patch UXtheme properly. I used to have x64, but reverted back to 32bit because that suits me best.

What you have to do is patch BOTH the x86 AND x64 files. So you need to use both versions of the UXtheme patcher because there is a 32 bit file that needs to be patched as well.

I hope this answered your question! And don't forget to restart before applying the theme again. ;)

Oh wow- I've never heard of that site! And I've been all over the web looking at resources for Japanese. Here's a few for you. ;)

Japanesepod101.com (free premium content for 7 days, but after that you're limited to podcasts and free content- regardless, it's a wonderful site!)

Also check out maggiesensei.com. She teaches you REAL spoken Japanese that you won't learn in textbooks! If I come up with any more I'll let you know. Those are just the ones that I know off the top of my head. Thanks for the site!

And I'm going to need your username- not your full name, to find you on the site. Thanks!

Love it! Potential little bug: At window mode, above the menubar everything is alright, on fullscreen mode the text above the menubar is vanished. As seen on that screen: [link]

Little question about the Icons: Are they supposed to be changed too or is the screen just a demonstration preview for your idealism usage?

Regards. :-)
